CULLMAN — Berta Lavell McCarn

Funeral services for Berta Lavell McCarn, 86, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Bros. Bradley McDonald and Gary Milligan officiating, with interment in New Home Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. McCarn passed away Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Woodland Village Health Care. She was born Nov. 26, 1926, in Cullman County to Elijah and Myrtle Bell Page Hamby. She was a loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a God-given talent of a beautiful voice and loved to sing. She attended services at Faith Restoration Church and Harmony Word of Life Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Ollie Carlton “O.C.” Thomas and Burnett H. McCarn; four sisters, Mae Bell Casey, Sue Stephen, Ressie Corene Pitts and Dean Casey; and four brothers, Clifford Tennyson, Jim Tennyson, Junior Hamby and Coston Hamby.

Survivors include two daughters, Martha (Jerry) McNabb and Susan (Marlin) Drake; three sons, Larry Carlton (Mary) Thomas, Richard (Janice) Thomas and Terry (Angela) McCarn; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Thornton, Reed Thornton, Rebecca Wallace, Steven Thomas, Gina Moody, Amanda Lott, Noah Lott, Randi Thomas, Riley McCarn and Regan McCarn; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
