CULLMAN — Betty Jean ‘Mamaw’ Johnson

Funeral services for Betty Jean “Mamaw” Johnson, 81, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 17, 2013, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Dillon Calvert officiating, with interment in Ryan’s Creek Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Johnson passed away Tuesday, Jan. 15, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born June 27, 1931, in Brushy Pond to Joe and Bertha Calvert Goodwin. Betty loved drawing and making cartoons that the family cherishes. She also was a substitute teacher at Fairfield High School. One of her favorite times was being “Mawmaw” to her grandchildren and family.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepmom, Delta Goodwin; her husband, Charles N. Johnson; two sisters, Esther Freeman and Louise Williams; and two brothers, J.B. Goodwin and Conrad Goodwin.

Survivors include two sons, Charles (Kimber) Johnson and Paul (Rhonda) Johnson; a granddaughter, Jennifer Mendelsohn; three grandsons, Alex Johnson, Mason Johnson and Sean Mott; a sister, Margie Langley; a brother, Leon Goodwin; and a host of nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
