CULLMAN — Ruth Morton

Funeral services for Ruth Morton, 71, formerly of the Logan/Crane Hill area, will be at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Emeus Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Morton died Monday, Jan. 7, at Magnolia Ridge Care in Gardendale. She was born May 2, 1941, in Cullman to Ted and Dola Hopson Butler. She was fond of taking trips, cooking, music — and dancing at the senior center was a favorite. Alabama football was a passion and her flower and indoor plants were made more beautiful with her green thumb. While during her children’s school years, attending Mortimer Jordan High School football games and then her grandkids’ ballgames, was extra special.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James K. Morton; a sister, Dorothy Suggs; and a brother, Al Butler.

Survivors include two sons, Tim (JoAnn) Morton and Terry (LeAnn) Morton; a daughter, Trish (Marc) Haas; five grandchildren, Trent and Alex Morton, Cayla Morton, Gage and Camron Morton; two great-grandchildren, Lacey Myres and Paisley Fountain; two sisters, Ovilea Siebert and Marie Jackson; five nieces, Diane Reed, Beverly Towery, Connie Douglas, Donna Shelton and Debi Lynn; and a nephew, Keith Jackson.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
