CULLMAN — Jerry Frank Lamar

Funeral services for Jerry Frank Lamar, 71, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2012, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Pastor Tim Aris officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Lamar died passed away Saturday, Dec. 29, in the comfort of his home following a long illness with alzheimers. Jerry was a lifelong resident of Cullman and was a small business owner for 41 years. Beginning as owner of Lamar’s Gulf service station, then opened City Tire in 1967 and retired after 32 years of owning Jerry’s Home Run. Jerry was not only active in the business community, but was also very passionate about coaching youth sports. He loved coaching and watching football the most.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rosa Lamar; and his brothers, Jackie and Paul Lamar.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary Dean Lamar; children, Kristy (Philip) White, Leann (Drew) Evans, Brad Lamar, A.J. (Bethany) Lamar and Ashley Lamar; grandchildren, Oakleigh and Jacob White, Lauren Grace and Landon Evans, Jay Blanton and Rush Lamar; siblings, Mary Jo Whaley, Gustava Baird, Gene Lamar, Sarah Hudson, Richard Lamar, David Lamar, Dale Lamar, Paula Mitchell and Philip Lamar; brother-in-law, Douglas (Sandra) Miller and sister-in-law, Sheila (Wayne) Thomas.

Pallbearers will be Philip White, Drew Evans, Phillip Lamar, Richard Lamar, David Lamar, Garlan Gudger Jr., Chad Shannon, Paul Miller and Josh Thomas.

Honorary pallbearers will be Jacob White, Landon Evans and Jay Blanton Lamar.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The family would like to thank Alacare Hospice for the exceptional service and care that was provided.
