Roy C. Shaw

Funeral services for Roy C. Shaw, 81, of Holly Pond, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at First Baptist Church of Holly Pond, with Brother Benjamin Smothers officiating. Interment will follow in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Holly Pond Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Shaw died Friday, Dec. 21, 2012 at Trinity Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James E. and Mamie Ellard Shaw; a son, Greg Shaw; and brother, Marvin Shaw.

He was a native of Cullman County, a member of Holly Pond Lions Club, the Cullman County Industrial Board, Cullman Regional Medical Center Foundation Board, chairman (1977-2007) of Peoples Bank of Alabama, and a member of First Baptist Church of Holly Pond. He was a U.S.  Army and Korean War veteran and was awarded a Purple Heart and two Bronze Stars for his service.

Survivors include his wife, Laudine Black Shaw of Holly Pond; daughter, Terri Shaw of Cullman; brother, Donald Shaw of Cullman; sisters, Christine (Emmit) Wise of Holly Pond, and Sue (Clyde) Morris of Cullman; grandsons: Kyle Shaw of Vinemont, and Kerry Shaw of Holly Pond; great-grandchildren: Piper Shaw, Mallorie Shaw, Kanaan Shaw; and Becky Corley, mother of Kyle and Kerry Shaw.

Pallbearers will be Robin Cummings, Alan Walker, Terry Walker, tim Walker, Whitt Drake, Brian Witcher, Chris Sawyer, and Steve Freeman. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Drake, Jasper Estes, and Mrs. Candace Hooten.

Visitation will be 5- 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Holly Pond Funeral Home.
