CULLMAN —
Morris A. Greening age 86, born in Camden, Arkansas, passed away surrounded by his immediate family at Victorian Manor in Hanceville, AL. Morris graduated from Camden High School, then attended Howard College here in Birmingham. He retired from U.S. Steel and served in WWII in the Navy, and remained in the U.S. Naval Reserves until he retired as a Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of Cullman. While he lived in Homewood he enjoyed attending services and Bible studies at Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. In 2006, Morris moved into Regency Retirement and in January of 2012, he moved to Victorian Manor in Hanceville in Cullman County.
Morris was a Godly, kind, compassionate man whose smile and laughter lit up any room. His purpose in life was to serve God and others to which he did to the best of his ability. He was a husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family with all of his heart and was a great warrior for them all. Morris will be loved and missed by all those who knew him, since he never met a stranger, the number is endless. To those who knew him and in the eyes of his two daughters, he came very close to being perfect.
Morris was preceded by his loving wife, Virginia T. Greening; parents Della and Augustus Greening.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughters, Gloria E. Greening and Alyce G. (Doug) Matlock; granddaughter, Shannon G. (Polo) Luis; and his brothers, John G. (Betty) Greening, Jack (Betty) Greening, and Travis (Tina) Greening.
Services will be held Monday, June 25, 2012 at 3:00 pm at Elmwood Chapel with visitation beginning at 2:00 pm. Naval Honors and burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.
