Elsie ‘Pete’ or ‘Granny’ South
Funeral services for Elsie “Pete” or “Granny” South, 69, of Falkville will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012, at New Hope North Missionary Baptist Church, the Rev. Anthony Vincent officiating, with burial in New Hope North Cemetery.
Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. South died Wednesday, June 20, at her residence. She was born April 24, 1943, in Morgan County to Frank Hollis and Mattie Lorane Bates Cooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Howard South; and a granddaughter, Destiny South.
Survivors include two sons, Frank (Tina) South of Vinemont and Jason South of Falkville; five daughters, Rebecca (Dewayne) of Vinemont, Darlene Jacobs of Falkville, Vickie (Jonathan) Kelso of Vinemont, Teresa (Willie) Givens of Vinemont and Karen (Chris) Burney of Falkville; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Scott Sellers, Chad Adcock, Chase Rutherford, Jeremy Anders, Blake Givens, Zack South, Shaun Anders, Dachery Bagwell and Seth Dees.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
