Funeral services for Ethel Lee Burney, 81, of Hanceville will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Grace Episcopal Church, Father Bob Blackwood officiating, with interment in Mt. Grove Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Burney passed away Sunday, April 21, at Brookwood Medical Center. She was born Dec. 19, 1931, in Cleburne County to John Henry and Rebecca Beason James. Ethel was a graduate of Hanceville High School, class of 1951; a member of over 20 years at Grace Episcopal Church, and loved collecting and antiquing as a hobby.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ossie Burney; and 15 half-brothers and half-sisters.
Survivors include two sons, Larry (Jonna) Burney and Tim (Julie) Burney; four grandsons, Michael Burney, Matthew Burney, Sean Burney and Noah Burney; a stepgranddaughter, Denise Weiser; three great-grandchildren, Jacob Burney, Hunter Burney and Blake Burney; and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to Grace Episcopal Church, 305 Arnold St. NE, Cullman 35055.

Carlton Eugene Stafford
Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

Susan Werner died Monday, July 21, 2014, as a result of an apparent fall at her home in Gainesville, Florida. Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
