William Walter Wheeler Sr.
Graveside services for William Walter Wheeler Sr., 90, of Cullman will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at Hillcrest Cemetery in Quincy, Fla.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Wheeler died Saturday, Oct. 31, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born in Tampa, Fla., Aug. 22, 1919, to William Lester Wheeler and Margaret Wheeler. He graduated from the University of Florida, was president of Quincy Box Company in Quincy, Fla., and served as an ensign in the Navy.
He moved to Cullman in 1961 with Alabama Box Company and retired in 1981. He was active in Kiwanis Club, president of Larkwood Club and honored with a lifetime membership. He loved finishing, boating, and family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; hia wife, Betty Ann Ward Wheeler; two children, William Walter Wheeler Jr. and Ward Cameron Wheeler; and a brother, Frank Lester Wheeler.
Survivors include a daughter, Leslie (Wayne) Turner of Cullman; a brother, George Cameron (Julie) Wheeler of Jacksonville, Fla.; five grandchildren, Keith Turner, Hilton (Sandy) McElvey of Oneonta, Ann Brun, Jonathan Calvert and William Walter (Anna) Wheeler III; and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
