ARAB — Mozelle Phillips

Funeral services for Mozelle Phillips, 85, of the New Home community in Holly Pond, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 22, 2009, at New Home Baptist Church, Arthur Feemster and Milford Hays officiating, with burial in New Home Cemetery. The body will lie in state from noon to 1 p.m. at the church.

Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Phillips died Sunday, Oct. 18, at Golden Living Center in Arab. She was born July 4, 1924, in Cullman County to James Dewey and Ottie Mae Walker Kelsoe. She was a member of New Home Baptist Church since 1942. She was married to William Arza Phillips.

She was preceded in death by her husband, who died May 16, 2001; and three brothers, Lynell Kelsoe, Edward Kelsoe and Kenneth Kelsoe.

Survivors include a son, William D. “Duke” (Carol) Phillips of Florence; a daughter, Billie Jean  “B.J.” Henderson of Baileyton; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Wynell Thompson of Warsaw, Ind.

Pallbearers will be Kenneth Boles, Phillip Kelsoe, Rick Thompson, Terry Thompson, Tommy White and Ed Willis.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
