CULLMAN — J.C. Gamble

Funeral services for J.C. Gamble, 85, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8, 2009, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Revs. Jerry Lake and Donald Abbott officiating, with interment in Garden City Cemetery.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gamble died Sunday, Oct. 4, at his residence. He was born Sunday, Aug. 17, 1924, in Cullman County to Claude and Fannie Whitfield Gamble. He worked at U.S. Steel for 37 years as an electrician. He loved woodworking, the outdoors, visiting others, and sitting on the porch watching traffic and birds. He was a good Christian man and a beloved father and grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson, Lance Price; four brothers, Charlie, Jack, Robert and J.P. Gamble; and two sisters, Willie Quick and Frances Brown Baker.

Survivors include his wife, Beulah “Jane” Gamble of Hanceville; two daughters, Debbie (Gene) Price of Garden City and Cathy Gamble Berry of Hanceville; a son, Mark Gamble of Hanceville; four grandchildren, Nicholas Price, Kendall Price, C.J. Berry and Mason Gamble; a great-grandchild, Bella Marintsch; and a sister, Ruth Howard of Gardendale.

Visitation will be from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
