GOOD HOPE — Mack C. Rice

Funeral services for Mack C. Rice, 88, of Good Hope will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Billy Randolph, Tommy Graves and Whit Rice officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Rice died Wednesday, Nov. 13, at his residence. He was born April 13, 1925, in Cullman to Mell and Mattie Mitchell Rice. Mack worked many years with U.S. Steel, and was always on the farm. He served two terms on the Cullman County School Board, from 1973 until 1981; and was also a member and elder at Fourth Street Church of Christ. Mack cherished his family and friends; and one of his well-known quotes “You don’t buy friends, you make friends.”

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 58 years, Callie Mae Graves Rice; two brothers, Porter Rice and Preston Rice; and two sisters, Ronetta Ogletree and Ronelda Rice.

Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn Rice of Hanceville; a son, Donnie (Donna) Rice of Cullman; a sister, Lorene Parker of Cullman; four grandchildren, Whit (Jessica) Rice, Jared Rice, Leysha Canady and Robyn (Brittany) Canady; and a great-grandchild, Sage Canady.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
