Glenn Rayford Laminack

New Harmony community — Glenn Rayford Laminack

Glenn Rayford Laminack, 96, born June 13, 1917, to Carl and Zelma Laminack, passed away early Saturday morning, June 22, 2013, at home with his family by his side.

Mr. Laminack is survived by his loving bride of 38 years, Jean M. Laminack of Gardendale, Ala.; his special niece, Vernett Drake of Cullman; two special nephews, Joe Laminack of Saucier, Miss., and Butch McCulley of Kennesaw, Ga.; his stepdaughter, Beverly (Haynes) Parker of Roswell, Ga;, his sister, Dorothy Trammell of Cullman; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and extended family.

His legacy, however, includes many more that were not biologically related to him. Neighbors Andy and Lisa Blake were like adopted children, and Glenn was the proud PawPaw to their children, Drew, Kara, Eli and Halle Blake. Glenn also has an extended family of music-loving friends and bandmates throughout his many years of guitar-playing. In the past few years, he could be found playing music with friends at local community centers and restaurants. Before that, he was a member of several gospel quartets and was a songwriter who loved to sing and write songs about Heaven, where he is certainly worshipping at this moment.

Visitation for Mr. Laminack will be at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 25. Funeral services will be held there as well at noon Wednesday, June 26. A graveside service will be held immediately following the funeral at Missionary Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Cullman County.

In memory of their beloved PawPaw Glenn, the family asks that his music friends bring a guitar pick to leave with him, as we know that he will be joyfully playing the guitar and singing with the heavenly choir for all of eternity.

The family would like to especially thank Hope Hospice for their loving care and support.
