Lorene Camp Scott
Funeral services for Lorene Camp Scott will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 16, 2013, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, with interment in Cullman City Cemetery immediately following services. Visitation and celebration of life will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday.
Lorene Scott passed away Tuesday, May 14. She was born Jan. 14, 1923, in Cullman to Carl and Georgia Camp. She came from a large family of nine children. She was married to James C. Scott for 53 years and they had one daughter, Renee Scott Wright.
Lorene was known to the community for her hard work and her generosity to others, her love of life and devotion to God, family and friends. Her charity work began more than 60 years ago when she helped charter the VFW Auxiliary. She was active in so many organizations and charities that they are too numerous to name. Among those nearest and dearest to her heart were Christmas Love, which she found in 1988, the Pilot Club and Pilot Light Home for abused and neglected children. These and all others she dedicated her entire life to their service.
On May 7, 2005, Lorene was honored with a celebration of her life at the Col. Cullmann Room at Cullman Regional Medical Center. On that day it was declared by Mayor Donald Green and the Alabama Legislature to be Lorene Scott Day.
Lorene was one of the first members of St. Andrew’s United Methodist Church and continued on to her death.
She was proceeded in death by her mother and father; her husband; a son-in-law, Larry Joe Wright; and three brothers, S.C. Camp Jr., Fred Camp and Clifford Camp.
She is survived by her daughter, Renee Scott Wright; two grandsons, Larry Joe Wright Jr. and James Steven (Stephanie) Wright; three great-grandsons, Joseph, James and Jacob Wright; sisters, Mildred Reese Lamberth, Theolene Hill, Jean Roberson and Margaret Hamrick; brother, James K. (Mary) Camp; sister-in-law, Estelle Camp; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ruby Edmonds passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was 76 years old. She was born Aug. 12, 1937, to Delmer and Minnie Kilgo Twilley.

Edith Marie Thomas
Edith Marie Thomas, 77, of Mint Hill, N.C., passed away peacefully at Hospice of Union County Friday, Feb, 28, 2014. She was born June 16, 1936, in Hanceville, Ala. Edith was one of nine children and the daughter of the late Earl and Irene Kretzschmar. She was raised in Alabama, where she met her husband, Ed, and where many of her family and friends still reside. Edith and Ed have been active members of Morning Star Lutheran Church of Matthews for over 30 years. Edith enjoyed camping, sewing, gardening and going to yard sales.
