Funeral services for Ethel Stewart King, 97, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 2, 2013, at St. Andrews United Methodist Church, the Revs, Jonathan Todd and Marcus Long officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. King died Tuesday, April 30. Ethel was born and raised in Good Hope. Attended Cullman High School, where she met her future husband, Eulis, on her first day of school. They were happily married for 62 years until his death in 2000. She was a very talented seamstress, making dresses and clothes for her sisters growing up. She loved cooking, decorating and gardening. She won numerous blue ribbons at the Cullman County Fair for her clothes, cakes, cookies, canned goods, hats and crafts. She took great pride in her garden and flowers. She was a member of St. Andrews UMC for 75 years. She had also been a member of the Good Hope Home Demostration Club, Civitan Club, Southern Belle Red Hats, Southern Belle Hi-Hatters, St. Andrews Welcome Sunday School Class and a Cub Scout den mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, B.E. and Emma Stewart; her husband; three sisters, Mae Gray, Alice Day and Edna McGraw; and a brother, David Steweart.
Survivors include a daughter; Glenda Jones, son; Howard (Betty) King, five grandchildren; Sharon (Miles) Mason, Joe (Julie) Jones II, Shannon Colwick, Brett (Amanda) King, and Jill (Yoshi) Mizumoto, 13 great-grandchildren; Patrick Jones, Madeline Jones, Catherine Jones, Anne Mason, Abigail Mason, Miles Mason Jr., Kyle Colwick, Trevor Colwick, Christopher Colwick, Victoria King, Alexandria King, Emma Mizumoto and Maggie Mizumoto; a sister, Nellie Crick; and two brothers, Johnnie Stewart and Lonnie Stewart.
Donations may be made to St. Andrews UMC, or Hospice of Cullman County.
Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday at the church.
