Mr. Larry Lawrence Conner, 88, of Shuqualak, MS., died Tuesday, August 21, 2012, at Baptist Memorial Hospital, Columbus, MS from complications incurred when he suffered a stroke. Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 23, 2012, at 2:00 p.m. at Soul Harbour Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak, MS. with Bro. Gerald Butler officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will follow in Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery near Gholson, MS. The family requests NO FLOWERS, please. Mr. Conner was born on Sept 17, 1923 to the late Larry Lloyd Conner and Vada Taylor Conner. Conner, a WWII veteran, was a Noxubee County native for the majority of his life, with brief stints spent in Florida. A farmer for most of his life, he and Anita Bateman Conner, his wife of 65 years, were members of Soul Harbor Pentecostal Church in Shuqualak, MS, where he played the guitar and sang. Mr. Conner is survived by his wife Anita Bateman Conner of Shuqualak, MS; four daughters; Gloria Shelton (Mike) & Sandra Poag (Dean) all of Culman, AL., Patricia Boykin (Kenny) of Macon, MS and Christie Sabinson (William) of Nanih Waiya, MS; one son, Larry Allen Conner(Michelle) Conner of Shuqualak, MS; one sister, Erah Conner of Gholson, Ms; thirteen grandchildren and 28 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Elmo, Willard, and John Conner and sisters Audrey Thomas, Flora White, and Shirley Rogers.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons Sonny Poag, Kenny Ray Boykin, Johnny Shelton, Alan Conner, Derek Conner, Jonathan Misso, and T.J. Hall.
Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, Steve Shelton and David Conner.
