CULLMAN — Leonard D. Hesterley Jr.

Funeral services for Leonard D. Hesterley Jr., 82, of Cullman were at 3 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 3, 2013, at Fairview Methodist Church, Richard Saylor officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Hesterley died Friday, Nov. 1 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Dec. 11, 1930, to Leonard D. Hesterley Sr. and Tommie Zillah Ruth Pearson Hesterley. He was a farmer.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his best friend and beloved pet, Ozzie; and two sisters, Mildred Huffman and Charlie Craft.

Survivors include three daughters, Rena (Jim) DeCosta of Derry, N.H., Shelia (Mike) Walker of Hanceville and Anna Brock of Cullman; two sisters, Anthonetta Eddleman and Ethelene Farmer, both of Cullman; four grandchildren, Misty (Jeremy) Carter, Rusty (Nell) Walker, Brandi (Brian) Steorts and Jody DeCosta; 10 great-grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.

Donations may be made to the American Cancert Association; flowers will also be accepted by the family.

Visitation was from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the church.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

    Susan Werner died Monday, July 21, 2014, as a result of an apparent fall at her home in Gainesville, Florida. Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
