CULLMAN — Homer Marshall Shannon

Homer Marshall Shannon, 93, loving and dedicated husband of Lilburn Shofner Shannon for 68 years, entered his eternal home on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013.

He was the loving dad of Connie Sheheane (Mike), Marshall Shannon (Pam), and Valeria Crisologo (Peter). He was also beloved by his eight grandchildren, Michael Sheheane, Shannon Sheheane (Tara), Mary Jane Threet (Ed), Brad Shannon (Stacey), Bryan Shannon (Kristen), Andrew Crisologo (Christy), Adam Crisologo, and Alan Crisologo; and six great-grandchildren.

Mr. Shannon was born May 17, 1920, in Pine Bluffs, Wyoming, to Walter and Mary Shannon.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Russell and Wilbur Shannon.

Mr. Shannon proudly served his country during World War II as a first sergeant in the Army Air Corps-European Theater. He was a lifetime member of the VFW Lodge.

Mr. Shannon lived in Mobile for 39 years, where he was a representative of the GRA (Grocery Manufacturing Association), member of the Executive Club, member of the Mobile Food Broker Association and chairman of the Independent Methodist School and Church Board. He also coached little league and Babe Ruth baseball for many years.

Mr. Shannon lived in Cullman for 18 years, where he served on the board of the First Nazarene Church.

To his family, he was a great man, strong and gentle. He taught us how to live our lives by example and to love the Lord with all our hearts.

Services will be held at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home in Cullman, Ala., at 3 p.m. with visitation at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013. Interment will be in Cullman Heritage Cemetery with graveside military honors.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.
