CULLMAN — John A. Gorham

Funeral services for John A. Gorham, 77, of Glencoe will be at 2 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Gadsden Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the Revs. Daniel Barkley, Wade Acton and Rodney McInnis officiating, with burial in Young’s Chapel Cemetery.

Glencoe-Hokes Bluff Funeral Home in Gadsden is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gorham passed away Wednesday, Sept. 19, after an extended battle with cancer. He was a native of Cullman County and resided for the past 52 years in Etowah County. He was a member of Gadsden Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He retired from Vulcan Material after 37 years of service. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Forrest Gorham.

Survivors include his wife of 52 years, Gail Hawkins Gorham; a daughter, Susan (Brad) Casey; two sons, Craig (Lena) Gorham and David (Brandy) Gorham; two brothers, Bill (Glynda) Gorham and Harold (Paula) Gorham; he was a loving “Poppy” to his grandchildren: Melissa (Mark) Anderson, Priscilla Gorham, Leann (Kyle) Bryan, John Alexander Gorham and Madalin Gorham. He is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Gadsden Cumberland Presbyterian Building Fund, 1200 Piedmont Cut-Off, Gadsden, AL 35903.

Pallbearers will be Marshall Brannan, Larry Gramlin, John Knappenburger, Tony Gorham, Gary Hawkins, Justin Smith and David Johnson.

Special thanks to Dr. Wilbon Bates, and the nurses and staff of Riverview Medical Center.

The family will receive friends from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the church.
