CSM Moelter joined the US Army on 09 February 1953 as an Airborne Infantryman. He was promoted to Sergeant Major with 13-and-a-half years of service in 1966. CSM Moelter was a 27-year veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a graduate of the Basic Airborne Course and served with the 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division at Camp Mackall, N.C., from 1953 to 1956. He served overseas in Korea (1955-56), France (1961-64), Vietnam (1968-69) and Germany (1974-77).
