CULLMAN — George Gerards Jr.

Funeral services for George Gerards Jr., 90, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, 2013, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Jim Walker officiating, with entombment in Cullman Heritage Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Gerards died Monday, Feb. 11, at Bethany House Hospice in Auburn. He was born Feb. 11, 1923, in Kennewick, Wash. He was a first lieutenant in the Army Air Corps. He also served as a bombadier in the 5th Air Force, the 380th Bomb Group, and the 531st Bomb Squadron in the South Pacific Theatre. Following his millitary service, he was a manager for Swift and Company and Union Camp.

Survivors include two sons, George “Hank” (Susan) Gerards and Chuck (Reesa) Gerards; a daughter, Janis Gerards (Ed) Edmondson; five grandchildren, Scott (Charlotte) Edmondson, Stacey (Sean) Wilson, Matt (Amy) Gerards, Jill (Kevin) Nelson and Brennen Gerards; four great-grandchildren, Bailey Edmondson, Bennett Edmondson, Bela Wilson and Kathryn Wilson; a brother, Waldo (Lotus) Gerards; and a sister, Marjorie Meyersick.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethany House, 1171 Gatewood Drive, Auburn, AL 36830.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
