CULLMAN — Barbara Ray Brown Carpenter

Funeral services for Barbara Ray Brown Carpenter, 76, of the Nesmith community will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2013, at Jones Chapel First Baptist Church, Dr. Jeff Steele and Rev. Chris Godbee officiating, with burial in Jones Chapel Cemetery.

Nichols Funeral Home in Addison is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Carpenter passed away Sunday, Feb. 10. She was born Sept. 23, 1936, in Cullman. She attended cooking and especially loved spoiling her grandkids.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Dealious and Mary Elizabeth Pearson Brown; two brothers, Edward Brown and James Brown; four sisters, Opal Skinner, Sarah Bryan, Dean Rodgers and Sue England; and a great-granddaughter, Kailey Butler.

She is survived by her husband of 57 years, Mitchell Carpenter; two sons, Randy (Pam) Carpenter and Michael (Glenda) Carpenter; a daughter, Sherry (Mike) Stapp; two brothers, J.P. (Lorene) Brown and Tom (Patty) Brown; two sisters, Mittie (Robert) Carpenter and Miriam Parker; she was “Maw Maw” to six grandchildren, Lori (Danny) Butler, Brandy (Joey) Morgan, Elliot Carpenter, Lexi Carpenter, Kinsie Hill and Alana Stapp; and four great-grandchildren, Reilly Butler, Macey Butler, Hadley Butler and Adalyn Morgan; and a sister-in-law, Larene (Cleo) Umphrey.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
