Charles Leroy O’Rear
Funeral services for Charles Leroy O’Rear, 86, of Mentone, Ala., formerly of Cullman, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. DeJuan Reese officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. O’Rear died Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Oakview Nursing Home in Summerville, Ga. He lived in Mentone for two years following his many years in Cullman. He was born Nov. 10, 1926, to Albert Carl and Minnie McAfee O’Rear. He was a retired principal of Jones Chapel Elementary School and retired director of the CETA program for Cullman County. He loved his community and worked hard to make it a better place.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Carl Mack (Lola) O’Rear; and brother-in-law, Milford Wilson.
Survivors include his spouse, Delray Taylor O’Rear of Oakview Suites in Summerville, Ga.; two sons, Steven Carl (Harriet Howle DeWitt) O’Rear of Cloudland, Ga., and Charles Wade O’Rear of Cumming, Ga.; a daughter, Pamela O’Rear (Helmut) Jakubowicz of Englefield Green, England; a sister, Christine O’Rear Wilson of Cullman; and two grandchildren, Karina Taylor Jakubowicz and Adam Charles Jakubowicz of Englefield, Green, England.
Visitation will be from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
