Jerry Leonard ‘Len’ Gibbs Jr.
Funeral service for Jerry Leonard "Len" Gibbs Jr., 60, will be at 1 p.m. Friday, April 5, 2013, at Eva Baptist Church, the Revs. Phillip Robinson and Gary Driver and Bro. Dustin Smith officiating, with burial in Oden Ridge Cemetery.
Peck Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Gibbs died on Tuesday, April 2, at his residence. He was born Friday, Jan. 2, 1953, in Jefferson County to Jerry Leonard Gibbs Sr. and Kathryn Pruett Gibbs. Mr. Gibbs was a member of the Eva Baptist Church, Eva Lion's Club; as a charter member, the Alabama Angus Association and the Morgan County Cattleman. He was a native of Oneonta and moved to Huntsville at an early age. He was a member of the charter graduating class at Grissom High School and attended UAH in Huntsville, majoring in physics. Mr. Gibbs was an employee of the CMDS, PEO M & S, as a product director for Stinger and Avenger weapons systems.
Survivors include his wife, Athelia Woodall Gibbs of Eva; his parents of Huntsville; two brothers; Cary Pruett (Diane) Gibbs and Dale Lee (Teresa) Gibbs, all of Huntsville; sisters-in-law, Joyce Woodall (Richard) Whipple of Eva and Janice Woodall (Dave) Goodsell of Austin, Texas; nephews, Andrew Stephen Gibbs and Brent Lee Gibbs, both of Huntsville; nieces, Joy Elizabeth (James Green) Gibbs of Huntsville, Emily Honor (Scott Carlin) Gatlin of Austin, Texas, Townley Gatlin (Brandon) Steili of Denver, Co., and Courtney Lee Whipple of Eva; four great-nieces; and three great-nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Russel Hill Cancer Foundation, 3601 CCI Drive, Huntsville, AL 35805.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
