Dorothea ‘Dot’ Claire Evans

A memorial service for Dot Evans, 66, of Cullman will be Saturday, August 25, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Grace Episcopal Church of Cullman with Rev. Robert Blackwell conducting the service.

Moss Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Evans died on Thursday, August 23, 2012 at the University of Alabama Birmingham Hospital after a long struggle with cancer. She was born October 22, 1945 in New York, New York to William Angus Brindley and Clara Ottilie Shultz. At age 14 she moved with her parents to Pittsburg, Pennsylvania where grew to adulthood. She earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Allegany College and her Master of Science Degree from the University of Tennessee School of Social Work in Nashville in 1972. She worked for 35 years at Decatur General Hospital and was Director of Quality Assurance there for many years until her retirement in 2008.

She is survived by her husband, William F Evans, of Cullman; a daughter, Rebecca (Kevin) Cowling and a grandson, Kieran Cowling, all from Clarksville, Tenn. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and countless others who knew her professionally. She bore her illness and final days with great dignity and few complaints.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to UAB Comprehensive Cancer Center, NP 2505, 1220 Second Avenue South, Birmingham, AL 35055.
