CULLMAN — Alvin N. Harris

Funeral services for Alvin N. Harris, 88, of Decatur will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 18, 2013, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Bros. Ken Allen and Sam Hollis officiating, with interment in Holly Pond Cemetery.

Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Harris died Tuesday, April 16, at Cullman Folsom Center. He was born Dec. 5, 1924, in Cullman to Johnnie David and Katie Estes Harris. He was a bookkeeper for an automobile company. He was a private first class in the U.S. Army, having served during World War II. He was a member of VFW Post 2214 and East Side Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters; his first wife of 12 years, Omie Glenn Harris; and his wife of 46 years, Charlotte Louise Shelton Harris.

Survivors include five children, Brenda (Jerry) Harris of Decatur, Noal (Lynn) Harris of Hanceville, Ann (Hans-Werner) Schindler of Cullman, Brenda Jarke of Madison and Bobby (Angela) Shelton of Hartselle; eight grandchildren, B.J. Harris, Erica Harris, Lisa Armstrong, Patti Johnson, Angie Thompson, Tina Noonan, Bobby Joe Shelton and Wesley Shelton; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be members of East Side Baptist Church.

Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.
