Stanley Jerome Bice
Funeral services for Stanley Jerome Bice, 56, of Cochran, Ga., formerly of Walter, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 25, 2012, at Duck River Missionary Baptist Church, Sherman Bailey officiating, with interment with military honors at the church cemetery. The body will lie in state from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Bice passed away Sunday, July 22, at his home. He was born Aug. 9, 1955, in Rome, Floyd County, Ga., to Edgar Guy and Freda Ellen Vest Bice. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy for over 30 years in the U.S. Navy Submarine Force. He retired with the rank of CWO4 (Chief Warrant Officer 4). Personal awards include five Navy and Marine Corps achievement medals, five Navy and Marine Corps commendation medals and the Meritorious Service Medal.
Mr. Bice was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Edgar Dale Bice.
Survivors include three sons, Adam (fiancée Erma Basila of Groton, Conn.) Bice, Edward Bice of Groton and Scott Bice of Warner-Robins, Ga.; Adam, Edward and Scott’s mother, Gayle Kienia Bice; a grandson, Aiden Basila Bice of Groton; a sister, Rebecca Ann Bice Butts; and numerous other family and friends.
The family received friends from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
