Funeral services for Eva Alice Michelfelder, 90, will be held on Sunday, Oct. 6, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Bethlehem East Baptist Church; Rev. Dale McAnnally officiating; with interment in the adjoining cemetery.  The family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at the church.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

She grew up in Hanceville, AL, as a homemaker and farm wife.  She worked for the King Edward Cigar Company in Cullman, AL, in the early 1960’s, for the Singer Sewing Company in Sarasota, FL, from 1968 until she opened Pauline’s/Forest Lakes Fashions in the early 1970’s.

She retired in 1989, moved to Gainesville in 1992, and was a caregiver for her husband until his death in 2002.  She was a resident of the Atrium (ILF) from 2007-09 and began attending Al’z Place, a model program for memory-impaired until 2012.  She was a resident of the Gainesville Health Care Center from 2012 until her death on Oct.3, 2013.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Andy Pickens and Annie Jane Smith Bland; her husband, Ervin W. Michelfelder; four brothers and four sisters.

 She is survived by two daughters, Rose Diane (Tony) Miller and Shirley Susan (Dave) Pridgen, four grandchildren, Adam Brian (Samantha) Miller, Susan Marie (Roland) Chambers, Brian David (Hadley) Pridgen, and Michael Carl (Kara) Pridgen, four great-grandchildren, Elijah Ryan Miller, Nelly Mae Chambers, Benjamin David Pridgen, and Benjamin Bertram Chambers;  two sisters, Thelma Pearl Jackson and Betty Hicks and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

 In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Al’z Place, 1701 N.W. 80 Blvd.; Suite 1085; Gainesville, FL 32606.
