HARTSELLE — Kenneth Wayne ‘Kenny’ Holmes

Funeral services for Kenneth Wayne “Kenny” Holmes, 52, of Eva will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, 2010, at Fairview Church of God in Falkville, with burila in Hamby’s Chapel Cemetery in Eva.

Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Holmes died Sunday, Feb. 21, at his residence. He was born June 15, 1957, to Emern A. Holmes Jr. and Bonnie G. Holmes in Hartselle. He was employed by OCI Chemical as a chemical technician. He was a member of Fairview Church of God in Falkville. Kenny was a great man, loving husband and compassionate father. He had a passion for life that anyone who met him noticed in just a short time. He loved the Lord and served Him daily. He enjoyed spending time with the love of his life, Kelly, and farming with his son on their family farm. Kenny will be dearly missed by his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by by his father.

Survivors include his wife, Kelly Homes of Eva; a son, Zachary (Erika) Holmes of Gardendale; a stepson, Tyler Childers of Eva; a stepdaughter, Katie Childers of Hartselle; his mother, Bonnie G. Holmes of Eva; a half-brother, Raymond L. Cheatham of Eva; four nephews, Corey (Brandi) Cheatham of Eva, Robert (Candia) Cheatham of Decatur, Blake Puckett and Jarred Puckett, both of Falkville; two nieces, Casey (Greg) Sandlin of Eva and Hannah Puckett of Falkville; three great-nieces, Alyssa, Anna and Isabel, all of Eva; his mother-in-law, Elizabeth Waldrop of Falkville; his father-in-law, Steve (Melba) Nelson of Hartselle; and a sister-in-law, Connie (Troy) Puckett of Falkville.

Pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be members of the OCI family.

Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
