CULLMAN — Sharon ‘Joan’ Cosper

Sharon “Joan” Cosper passed away suddenly Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014. She was born Aug. 30, 1949, in Cullman. As a child the family moved to Michigan where Joan later worked as a hospital phlebotomist. After returning to Alabama she worked as a caregiver.

Joan was preceded in death by her grandparents, Lawrence and Vallie Howse of Cullman; and her stepfather, Kinney Sutton.

She is survived by her daughter, Vallie Boike Petta; grandchildren, Nicholas Scott Petta and Natalie Kate Petta of Gadsden; mother, Mildred Howse Sutton of Gadsden; sisters, Patricia (Marvin) Lloyd of Roanoke, Va., and Linda (Wayne) Till of Pataluma, Calif.; nieces and nephews, Jenny (Kelvin) Nunn of Huntsville, Todd (Lois) Lloyd and Mark (Denise) Lloyd, both of Roanoke and Sally Till of Scotland; aunts, Kay Howse Moore of Brandon, Miss., and Myrl Howse of Cullman; uncle, L.P. Howse of Flint, Mich.; and a host of cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 1, at Collier-Butler Chapel, 824 Rainbow Drive, Gadsden. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Pastor Todd Walker will officiate. Interment will be in Duck River Baptist Church Cemetery, Cullman.

Collier-Butler Funeral and Cremation Service is directing.
