John Ray Nesmith
Funeral services for John Ray Nesmith, 74, of Hanceville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Dale McAnnally officiating, with interment in Bethlehem East Cemetery.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Nesmith passed away Wednesday, Dec. 5, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 24, 1938, in Morgan County to Adlie E. and Merle Moody Nesmith. He served two years in the U.S. Army in the early 1960s. He owned and operated Nesmith Building and Repair — building, remodeling and repairing many local homes for 35 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gerald Nesmith; a sister, Margaret Powell; and a daughter, Pamela Nesmith Horowitz.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Beverly J. Bland Nesmith; a son, Phillip (Belinda) Nesmith; a brother, Benton (Shirley) Nesmith; a sister, Martha (Karl) Byrd; two grandchildren, Ethan Bullard and Ashley Nesmith; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Friday.
