Robert Paul DePlachett

GOOD HOPE — Robert Paul DePlachett

Funeral services for Robert Paul DePlachett, 92, of Good Hope will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 24, 2013, at Good Hope Baptist Church, Dr. Ralph Andrews officiating, with burial in the church cemetery. Mr. DePlachett will lie-in-state at the church for one hour prior to services.

Mr. DePlachett was born Sept. 8, 1920, in Erie, Pa., to Robert P. and Helen C. Lenox DePlacido. He passed away Sunday, July 21, at his residence surrounded by family. Robert spent 22 years in the U.S. Navy, serving in World War II, Korea and Vietnam wars. After his retirement, he moved to Good Hope, became a longtime member at Good Hope Baptist Church, ran “Bob’s Store” for 10 years, and he witnessed to many, and never met a stranger. Growing up in Philadelphia, he began a love of baseball; he was one of the “knothole gang” at the old Shibe Park, watching the Philadelphia Athletics. He also enjoyed fishing and tennis, but was passionate about Braves baseball.

Survivors include his wife, Olene Hinkle DePlachett; three daughters, Kim Martin of Druid Hills, N.C., Linda (Don) Queen of Lexington, N.C., and Teresa (Stephen) Collier of Jackson, Tenn.; five sons, Robert DePlachett of San Diego, Calif., Terry DePlachett of Tustin, Calif., Mark (Katia) DePlachett of Brazil, Jon (Carrie) DePlachett of Athens and Charles (Emily) DePlachett of Huntsville; 11 grandchildren, Garrett, Nathan, Heather, Erin and Matthew DePlachett, Lyndsay and Alex Queen, Sierra LaRue, Joseph, Daniel and Samuel Collier; three great-grandchildren, Aysha Wilkins, Preston Hoffman and Davin DePlachett; and a host of brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and other family.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.
