CULLMAN — James Dalton Thompson

Funeral services for James Dalton Thompson, 80, of Cullman, will be Monday, February 18, 2013, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, Wayne Wisener officiating, with interment in Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery in Eva.

Mr. Thompson died Friday, Feb. 15, at his residence. He was born Jan. 1, 1933, to William Virgil and Eddie Thompson.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Lindon Thompson; and two sisters, Ravenell James and Jeanette Frank.

Mr. Thompson was a retired lineman for Cullman Electric CoOp, where he was employed for 30 years. He proudly served in the United States Army for three years: 1953-1956. He was a member of Etha Baptist Church and Simcoe Masonic Lodge No. 854.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Betty Barronton Thompson; two sons, Gregory Thompson and Bryan (Daonne) Thompson; two daughters, Karen (Billy) Roy and Anita (Mark) Moore; a sister, Linda (Dillard) Wisner; 15 grandchildren, Jeremy, Andrew, Chelsea, Benjamin and Jessie Thompson, Jill, Emily, and Meredith Roy, Daniel, Alison and Anna Moore, Clayton, Nicholas, Makayla and Skylar Thompson; one great-grandchild, Jensen Dalton Thompson.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 Sunday at the funeral home.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

    Susan Werner died Monday, July 21, 2014, as a result of an apparent fall at her home in Gainesville, Florida. Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
