CULLMAN — Frederick Edward Goeller

Funeral services for Frederick Edward Goeller, 83, of Cullman will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 6, 2013, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Pastor John Bussman officiating, with interment in Cullman City Cemetery. He will lie-in-state at the church one hour before services. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home.

Mr. Goeller passed away Sunday, Feb. 3, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born July 7, 1929, to Frederick and Lillie Fischer Goeller in Cullman County on land homesteaded by his maternal grandparents, Simon and Anna Goeller, who came to this country from Germany in the early 1870s. Ed lived on this land until his death.

Shortly after his birth, he was baptized at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church. He remained a life long active member, serving on numerous committees including Stewardship, Trustee and Church Council.

Following his military service in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1950 to 1954, he began his career as a concrete contractor. His projects included many small private pads as well as numerous businesses including the Walmart Distribution Center.

While many can see Ed’s creativity in the beautiful work he left behind, others will remember the many kindnesses and the generousity he showed to his family, friends and employees. His positive outlook and godly conduct will serve as an inspiration to many especially his grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mr. Goeller leaves behind his loving wife, Jamie Dye Goeller of Cullman; his daughter, Kay Goeller Kelley and her husband, Michael; grandchildren, Michaela and Samuel Kelley, all of Tuscaloosa; brothers-in-law, Norman L. Dye and his wife, Bettye, Truman F. Dye and his wife, Marie, J.B. Dye and his wife, Cecile; nephews, William “Bill” Mann, Charles Goeller and his wife, Sherry Goeller, and Jack Hanes and his wife, Pat; and a host of family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church or to the charity of your choice.
