Funeral services for Mary Lois Daniel Turney will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2013, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, with burial in Cook Cemetery near Cold Springs in Morgan County. Viewing will be from 1 to 2 p.m.
Cullman Funeral Home Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Turney, known mostly as Lois, passed away Thursday, Jan. 31, at Covenant Hospice in Pensacola, Fla., after a brief illness. She was born June 27, 1926, in Lawrence County, Ala., to Marcus and Limmer Bates Daniel. She was the youngest child in her family. She attended Morgan County High School in Hartselle. Lois started her professional career at Oak Ridge, Tenn., during World War II. She married Wilks W. Turney in 1948, and moved to Cullman. She was employed at Cullman Lingerie during the ’50s, went to Sears for a long career during the ’60s, ’70s and ’80s. After retirement from Sears she worked at CARTS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters, Marie Barrett and Melba Ford; her brother, Leldon Daniel; and her husband of 47 years, Wilks W. Turney Sr., who passed in 1995. She moved to Lillian, Ala., in 1998 to be closer to her family. In Lillian, she was a member of First Baptist Church. She was an excellent cook, decorator, gardener and all-around home economist. She loved the Lord.
Lois is survived by her loving family: Son, Wilks W. Turney Jr. (Janie) of Pensacola; her grandson, Joshua Turney (Heather) of Atlanta, Ga.; and granddaughter, Paige Elise Turney (Christopher Martin) of Pensacola. The lights of her life were great-grandson, Miles Turner; and great-granddaughter, Roxy Martin, both of Pensacola. She had many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Carlton Eugene Stafford
Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

Susan Werner died Monday, July 21, 2014, as a result of an apparent fall at her home in Gainesville, Florida. Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
