CULLMAN — Maurice Carroll Taylor

Funeral services for Maurice Carroll Taylor, 90, of Moody, St. Clair County, and formerly of Holly Pond in Cullman County, from 1980 to 2011, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Acmar Methodist Church, with burial in Forest Crest Cemetery.

Kilgroe Funeral Home in Leeds is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Taylor died Thursday, Jan. 3, of complications of Parkinsons disease. He loved his Creator, his family, the land and mules. He never wanted people to forget the role the mule played in developing our nation and our way of life. He drove a transfer truck for bread companies most of his working life, usually at night, and farmed by day.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 years, Mary Frances Burnham Taylor; his parents; two brothers; and three sisters.

Survivors include friend and companion, Gail Smith; a brother, Finus Max (Patty) Taylor; his children, David Carroll (Molly) Taylor, Van Allen (Rachel) Taylor, James Samuel Taylor and Mary Cathryn Taylor (Steve) Karr; his grandchildren, Christina Taylor (Dagan) Bushnell, Kevin (Cammie) Taylor, Lisa Lee, James Shannon (Meridith) Taylor, Patrick O’Neal (Cassie) Taylor and Stephen David (Tiffany) Karr; nine great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Liz Burnham Fowler; several dear nieces and nephews; and a host of friends.
