Graveside services for Johnnie E. Cook, 89, of Hanceville formerly of Bessemer, will be held on Monday, June 10, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Highland Memorial Gardens in Bessemer with Bro. Ray Ponder officiating. The family will receive friends at Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home on Monday, June 10, 2013 from 11:30 am until 1:30 p.m.

Bessemer Brown Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Cook passed away at his residence on Friday, June 7, 2013.

He was a member of the Cullman Eastern Star Lodge #35, the Unity Lodge of Hueytown, was also a Mason; WWII Army veteran, retired from the US Army as a 1stSergeant, was in the 71st Chemical Mortar Battalion, retired from the US National Guard as a Chief Master Sergeant; member of Shelton Grove Baptist Church in Hanceville.

Mr. Cook is preceded in death by his daughter, Renee Mosley; parents, Dellie Martin Cook and Betty Jane Terry Cook; three brothers, Jimmy, R.D. and Jessie Cook; two sisters, Dovie Hoggle and Trudy Durham.

Mr. Cook is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Cook of Hanceville; two sons, Phil (Kathy) Cook of Lawrenceville, Ga. and Carl Cook of Bessemer; daughter, Gwenda (Steve) Mullins of Hanceville; eight grandchildren, Chris (Jenn) Cook, Jeni (Marcus) McCluskey, Angela (Randy) Lamb, Stevie (Kelly) Mullins, Stephanie (Shawn) McClendon, Lori (Kevin) Fuller, Jami (Willie) Dunn and Wes (Malorie) Mosley; sixteen great grandchildren; one brother, ted Cook; one sister, Ruby Bingham.
