Dollie Mae Johnson

COLONY — Dollie Mae Johnson

Funeral services for Mrs. Dollie Mae Johnson, 75, of Colony, will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2013, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, the Rev. J. Twitty officiating, with burial in Colony Community Cemetery. Mrs. Johnson will lie in state at the church for one hour prior to services.

Mrs. Johnson was born March 7, 1938, in Russell County to Julius and Rebecca Thomas Johnson. She passed away Monday, July 15, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. Dollie worked at Lanson Industry for 25 years as a press operator.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 47 years, Arthur V.C. Johnson; one son, Keith Johnson; and two brothers, Julius Johnson Jr. and Horace Johnson.

Survivors include her five children: three sons, Earl Johnson of Decatur, Ga., Jerome Johnson of Dallas, Texas, and Arlanda Johnson of Colony; two daughters, Shirley Johnson Reese of Sumiton and Teresa Johnson of Stone Mountain, GA; eight brothers, Jesse Johnson, Archie Johnson, Eddie Johnson, Herrie Johnson, Tracey Johnson, Jimmy Johnson, J.C. Johnson and Walter Johnson; three sisters, Shirley Williams, Emma Alfred and Precious Harris; three grandchildren, Dante Reece, Edmond Taylor and Landon Taylor; and a special great-aunt, Mamie Jukes.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

    Carlton Eugene Stafford, 82, of Cullman passed away Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born April 14, 1932, James and Mary Katherine Brown Stafford. Mr. Stafford was an Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was the original owner of Carlton’s restaurant.

    Susan Werner died Monday, July 21, 2014, as a result of an apparent fall at her home in Gainesville, Florida. Susan grew up in Jacksonville, Florida, and, after graduation from FSU, spent many years in Cullman, where she taught elementary school and received a master’s degree from UAB. While in Cullman, she married Robert Werner and helped run a family retail business.
