Funeral services for Roy Glenn, 93, of Cullman will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 20, 2013, at Cullman Heritage Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Albert Estes and Sherman Bailey officiating, with interment in Duck River Cemetery.
Cullman Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Glenn died Tuesday, April 16, at his residence. He was born July 10, 1919, in Cullman County, to Robert and Banie Glenn.
He served his country during World War II from 1942-1945 in the U.S. Army. He fought on the battlefields in Germany, England, Belgium, and France. After his separation form the Army, he met and married his wife of 67 years, Ruby Hunter Glenn. He was a longtime member and deacon of Unity Baptist Church. He was a barber in Cullman for many years, owning and operating the Cullman Barber Shop and the Star Barber Shop. He also worked at Cruise Barber Shop and Leggs Barber Shop.
He was preceeded in death by his parents; a brother, Rayford Glenn, and two sisters, Omie (Alvin) Harris, and Vernie (Leamon) Segers.
Survivors include his wife Ruby Glenn; two daughters Eleanor (Ronald) Shoemaker, and Lisa (Greg) Dodson; one son, Marlon Glenn; seven sisters, Ruth Burrow, Eva (Ottis) Phillips, Tressie Wright, Jean Wright, Obera McKenney, Patricia Abercrombie, and Dean (Jerry) Young; two sisters-in-law, Louise Butler, and Faye (Sidney) Suggs, two grandaughters, Anita (Matt) Tatro, and Amber (Michael) Denaburg; four grandsons, Wade Redding, Mark Glenn, Matthew Glenn, and Adam Dodson; one stepgrandaughter, Shawn (Timothy) Schiel; a host of nieces and nephews, six great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
