CULLMAN —
Funeral services for Thomas Marion McClenny, 71, of Cullman will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Jerry Cole officiating, with burial in Cullman City Cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McClenny passed away peacefully at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Birmingham. He was born June 7, 1941, to Curtis and Katie Whatley McClenny.
Tom retired after 44 years of dedicated service from Alabama Power Company in Birmingham. He began his career in 1959 as a tree-trimmer, progressing through apprenticeship, lineman, lead lineman, line crew foreman for both Distribution and Transmission, T&D Specialist, Line Clearing Supervisor, manager of Crew, Methods and Training (1989-2000). At age 26, Tom was president of IBEW Local Union 796, Eufaula, AL (1967-1968). He was appointed chairman, Southern Company T&D Training Committee (1994-2000).
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Peggy Steele; and a brother, Jimmy McClenny.
Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Amy Moon McClenny; a daughter, Lisa Holbert of Charlotte, S.C.; a son, Matt McClenny of Birmingham; two grandsons, Hunter Harbin and Gavin McClenny; three sisters, Martha Kuhl, Charlotte McClenny and Sara Casey; and three brothers, Paul McClenny, Billy McClenny and Bob McClenny.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the funeral home.
