Frederick James ‘Mickey’ Moran

CULLMAN — Funeral services for Frederick James “Mickey” Moran, 77, of Crane Hill will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at Hanceville Funeral Home Chapel, Barry Gardner officiating, with interment with full military honors in Cullman Memory Gardens Mausoleum in Cullman.

Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Moran died Saturday, Oct. 10, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 4, 1932, in Niagara Falls, N.Y., to William F. Moran Sr. and Lily Waddell Moran. He retired from the U.S. Navy with the rank of Chief Petty Officer on June 1, 1973, after 22 years of service during the Vietnam war, the Cuban Crisis, and the Korean Conflict. He served his last tour of duty as the Navy recruiter for Cullman and the surrounding counties. He was an active member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his brother, William F. “Bill” Moran Jr.

Survivors include his wife, Judy Ann Burns Moran; five children, Gary (Kay) Moran, Lisa Kaye Moran, Kathy (David) Embly, Jimmy (Peggy) Fletcher and Teresa (Randy) Ackley; a brother, George (Edna) Moran; a sister, Eileen Hertel; 12 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice of Cullman County.

Visitation was from 5:30 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
