Joyce Whaley Turner
Funeral services for Joyce Whaley Turner, 93, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Shelton Grove Baptist Church, Bros. Wayne Williams, Ray Ponder and Chris Chambless officiating, with burial in the church cemetery.
Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Turner passed away Monday, June 18, at Woodland Village Nursing Home. She was born Dec. 6, 1918, in Cullman to Albert and Retter Jane Hollis Whaley. Joyce was a resident of Woodland Village Health Care for six years. She loved to make necklaces and bracelets out of beads, and loved playing Bocce ball, and loved everyone.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Turner; a son, Robert Turner; a daughter, Helen Stansell; two brothers, Avis and Billy Whaley; and five sisters, Clara Wilson, Valine Trapp, Elline Trapp, Lesilee Welch and Nell Stricklin.
Survivors include a daughter, Edith (Herman) Elliott; a son, Frankie (Kathey) Turner; two brothers, Buddy (Ruby) Whaley and Ardis (Pauline) Whaley; 13 grandchildren, Windell Turner, Wayne Turner, Joann (Larry) White, Dwight (Connie) Elliott, Sharon Elliott, Kevin Elliott, Kenneth (Renay) Elliott, Dewayne (Tina) StanselI, Tonny (Kara) Stansell, Ginger Fortenberry, Nevada (Christy) Turner, Terrill (Shanna) Turner and Jason (Shawna) Turner; 25 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
