CULLMAN — Judy Johnson Estes

Funeral services for Judy Johnson Estes, 65, of Brooksville, Miss., will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 2, 2012, at Calvary Baptist Church, Pastor Troy Weaver officiating, with burial in Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Cockrell Funeral Home in Macon, Miss., is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Estes passed away Monday, July 30, at her home. She was born Sept. 13, 1946, in Cullman to Troy and Alma Alston Johnson. She graduated in 1964 from Cullman High School and married Ralph Estes, the love of her life, Nov. 23, 1964. She attended Way of the Cross Chapel in Brooksville, Miss., and worked as office manager at Dudley E. Dickerson, DMD, in Macon, up until her illness. She was a devoted member of the Noxubee 2221 Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy, which she served in many capacities, including president. She also served on the division (state) level, both as chaplain and recorder of the military crosses and service awards, and as chairman for several committees.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Ralph Estes of Macon, Miss.; a daughter, Delisa Lee of Brooksville, Miss.; five sons, David Estes of Macon, Dexter Estes of Lyndhurst, Va., Daniel Estes of Washington, DC, Damon Estes of Macon and Destin Estes of Bakersfield, Calif.; a sister, Janice Scott of Wylie, Texas; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in memory of Judy Estes to Baptist Memorial Health Care Foundation, 350 N. Humphreys Blvd., Memphis, TN 38120. Include note: Judy Estes BMH-GT Cancer Center.

Pallbearers will be Jerrill Bontrager, Lavern Bontrager, Jeff Graber, Galen Mast, Marlow Mast and Mark Schrock.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
