CULLMAN — James Elmas Howlett

Funeral services for James Elmas Howlett, 80, of Cullman were at 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15, 2012, at Moss-Service Funeral Home Chapel, Bro. Jim Deason officiating, with interment in Cullman City Cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Howlett passed away Sunday, Oct. 14, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Nov. 3, 1931, in Crane Hill to James Riley and Susie Jane Campbell Howlett. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and was the owner/operator of Howlett Oil Company.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Ruth Meyer Howlett; and a brother-in-law, Shirley Meyer.

Survivors include two daughters, Alisa (Dr. Steve) Murphree of Cullman and Judy (Dr. Eric) Imhof of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; grandchildren, Justin (Brooke) Murphree, Katie and Patrick Murphree, Erin and Ryan Imhof; sisters-in-law, Jean (J.L.) Herring, Yvonne (Don) Pichelmayer, Gara (Jerry) Gray; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; dear friend, Bill (Jean) Parker; and special caregivers, Betty Burns, Betty Hood, Barbara Sandlin, Iva Smith, Betty Teague, Mary Valincourt and Gwen Welch.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the charity of one’s choice.

Visitation was from 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
