Buddy Carlton Pigg
Buddy Carlton Pigg, 71, of Cullman, formerly of Addison, entered rest on Sunday, December 22, 2013, at Cullman Regional Medical Center.
He was born on September 24, 1942, in Cullman and attended Addison School. He was a devout Christian with a strong faith that never wavered. At a younger age, he worked for Winston Mobile Homes and raised cattle. His most important job was being caregiver for everyone else along the way. He enjoyed Alabama football, watching TV and talking with people.
Buddy was not just Buddy — to everyone who met, knew and loved him, he was so much more. He never met anyone he would not help or show compassion to. Throughout most of the children’s lives, he has babysat or assisted in the care. He unselfishly cared for his parents for many years before they passed. He loved his children and grandchildren unconditionally. He would give anything he had to someone else. He taught most of us a new definition of love. Buddy loved the way Jesus loved.
Visitation will be held Thursday, December 26, 2013, from 6-8 p.m. at Nichols Funeral Home in Addison where services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. Reverend William McClellan will officiate. Burial will be in Sardis Baptist Church No. 2 Cemetery.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Pigg (Randy) Brown; brother, James (Joyce) Pigg; sisters, Lila (Don) Staudt, Anette (Johnny) Sears, Sarah (Bobby) Lindsey, Regina (Jimmy) Thompson; he was “Papa Buddy” to three grandchildren, Amber Day, Shannon (Lindsey) Bryant, Katy McDonald, Rachel Coughanour (honorary granddaughter); four great grandchildren, Connor Lancaster, Braxton Bryant, Lilly Kate Bryant, Scarlet Coughanour; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
