Melba Sexton passed away in her sleep Friday, Nov. 1, 2013. She was the eldest child of Myrtie Novella Brown Smith and Dewey L. Smith Sr. She started working at age 14 and held many jobs from sales, accounting, telephone operator, manager and as the caterer of the Maxwell Air Force Base officers Club. She retired from there and worked as a receptionist at the EPA on Gunter AFB until the end of her career. Melba loved the outdoors and working in her yard, which was hindered in her later years by disability.
She is survived by her two children, Connie Geno (Kimball) and Ronnie Sexton (Barb); four grandchildren, Aaron Geno, Adam Geno, Megan Sexton and Devan Sexton; a sister, Flonell Hansen; and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 5, at Hamby’s Chapel in Eva, Ala., with burial in Hamby’s Chapel Cemetery

Funeral services for Ms. Sharon Capps Phillips, 69, of Springhill will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 18, 2014, at Cullman Funeral Home Chapel, Mike Waters officiating, with interment at Springhill Cemetery.
James Edward McCravy
Funeral services for James Edward McCravy, 80, of Cullman will be held on Saturday, April 19, 2014 at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church of Hanceville; with interment in Ebenezer Cemetery. He will lie in state one hour prior to the service. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
