Funeral services for Leon Turner, 81, of Hanceville will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, at Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, with interment in Colony Community Cemetery. He will lie in state from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Hanceville Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Turner passed away Monday, Sept. 30, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. He was born Jan. 6, 1932, in St. Clair County to Postell Turner and Lillie Mae Garrett Turner.
He is survived by his wife, Mary V. Turner; children, Phyllis (Anthony) Flanigan, Mervin Turner, Edwin Turner, Clifford (Elenior) Turner, Sharon Turner Nation and Anthony Turner; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brothers, John Henry (Beatrice) Turner, Oscar (Mary) Turner, George (Evelyn) Turner, Lonzo Turner, Charles (Marie) Turner, Amos Turner and John Wesley Turner; sisters, Catherine Williams, Pearline (Thomas) Petit, Brenda (Abrey) Washington and Eddie Lee (William) Lattemore; and a brother-in-law, Richard (Dorothy) Leeth.
