CULLMAN — Wilda Arzola Parker

Funeral services for Wilda Arzola Parker, 97, formerly of Cullman, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012, at Longview Church of God, the Rev. Loren Sutton officiating, with burial in Ebenezer Cemetery. The body will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Parker passed away Tuesday, Dec. 11, at Lafayette Extended Care in Lafayette, Ala. She was born March 28, 1915, in Morgan County to Emmitt and Bama Swan Johnson. Wilda was extremely active in the Church of God of Anderson, Ind. She was a multiple past state president of the Women’s Missionary Society, and a founding member of the Riverchase Community Church of God. She was very talented in many areas: Quilting, crocheting afghans, gardening and making her famous chocolate pies. She was also well known for entertaining at her home on Smith Lake.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, William Albert Parker Jr.; a daughter, Elizabeth Wynell Parker; a sister, Tassie Douglas; and a brother, Paul Johnson.

Survivors include two sons, Bill (Linda) Parker and Robert H. (Sharon) Parker; seven grandchildren, Terry Parker, Connie Poteete, Cathy Byrd, Penelope Strater, Chris Parker, Jenny Batson and Jeff Batson; 10 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Gloria Faye Yates; and five brothers, H.M. (Faytene) Johnson, Herbert Johnson, Sidney (Jean) Johnson, Lloyd (Mary Ruth) Johnson and Billy Ray (Carolyn) Johnson.

Visitation was from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
