CULLMAN — William ‘Bill’ D. Tucker

Funeral services for William “Bill” D. Tucker, 78, of Cullman will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Father Patrick Egan O.S.B., and Father Joel Martin, O.S.B., officiating, with interment in the Catholic cemetery.

Moss-Service Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Tucker passed away Saturday, Feb. 9, at his residence. He was born April 6, 1934, in Bear Creek, Ala., to William Dewey and Hester Yancey Tucker.

Bill spent many years in Miami/Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., region working as a carpenter and general contractor. Returning to Bear Creek in 1975, he built a cabin and later a house for his family while working in the trailer manufacturing industry. In 1993, he and his wife moved to Cullman and he worked as the maintenance man for Sacred Heart Elementary School until retiring in 2005. Bill was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, second degree, and Bill was also an oblate of St. Benedicts.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Ronald Clarence Tucker; and a sister, Bernice Castillo.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Gloria Anne Gabutti Tucker; a daughter, Deborah Ann Tucker Copeland; four sons, Arthur Douglas Tucker, Richard Allen Tucker, James Edward Tucker and William Gerald Tucker; three sisters, Edna Erle Scott, Sharon Rose Weeks and Ruth Anne Weeks; 15 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6:30 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home; rosary will be at 7:30 p.m.
