Funeral services for Darren Mark Chambers, 37, of Mount Airy, N.C., will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2013, at Mt. Vernon Baptist Church, the Rev. Bill Spurlin officiating, with burial in Pine Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, with Masonic rites conducted by Round Peak Masonic Lodge No. 616 AF and AM.
Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Chambers passed away Monday , Feb. 4, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born Oct. 10, 1975, in Surry County, the son of Bonnie Holt Chambers and the late Garry Lee Chambers. Darren was a truck driver at Dude Smith Trucking and a member of Mt. Vernon Baptist Church. He was also a member of Round Peak Masonic Lodge No. 616 AF and AM.
In addition to his father, Darren was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Walter Holt; his paternal grandfather, J.L. Chambers; an uncle, Dennis Holt; and special cousins, Micah Scott and Richard Moore.
He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Holt Chambers of Mount Airy; a sister, Lisa Michelle Chambers of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Kevin Mitchell and Tammy Reece Chambers of Clemmons; a stepniece, Ashley Hayes of Clemmons; a stepnephew, Matt Hayes of Clemmons; his maternal grandmother, Lucille Holt of Mount Airy; his paternal grandmother, Elizabeth Chambers of Holly Pond; aunts and uncles, Ann and Ronald Wright and Bobby and Shirley Chambers, all of Holly Pond, Randall Chambers of Huntsville, Pat Jenkins, Carolyn Davis, Terry Holt, Jeff Holt and Neil Combs, all of Mount Airy, and Donald and Chipper Holt of Allisonia, Va.; many special cousins; and his best friend, Bandit.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where his body will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to services.
The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, especially Tina Leonard, for the love and tender care given to Darren during his sickness.

Ruby Edmonds passed away Tuesday, March 4, 2014, at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was 76 years old. She was born Aug. 12, 1937, to Delmer and Minnie Kilgo Twilley.

Edith Marie Thomas
Edith Marie Thomas, 77, of Mint Hill, N.C., passed away peacefully at Hospice of Union County Friday, Feb, 28, 2014. She was born June 16, 1936, in Hanceville, Ala. Edith was one of nine children and the daughter of the late Earl and Irene Kretzschmar. She was raised in Alabama, where she met her husband, Ed, and where many of her family and friends still reside. Edith and Ed have been active members of Morning Star Lutheran Church of Matthews for over 30 years. Edith enjoyed camping, sewing, gardening and going to yard sales.
